It's even worse than a UK penny (and that's saying something! People literally throw them in the bin!) The exchange rate makes a US cent equivalent to a halfpenny, which we abolished in 1984. Come on guys get with the times.
Then again, American prices in general are more random because of adding tax onto the price displayed (I am convinced this is a con as well....lol) so maybe pennies can be pretty useful for all the randomly priced stuff. And, like the above article explains, it will affect people negatively when prices are rounded up. But they are SO annoying.
Does anyone actually pay for anything with pennies??? If not, what do you do with yours? Do you think the US penny should be abolished?
